Richard Alexander Burns (17 January 1971 – 25 November 2005) was an English rally driver who won the 2001 World Rally Championship with Subaru, having finished second in the championship in 1999 and 2000.
He also helped Mitsubishi win the 1998 and 2002 World Rally Championship for Peugeot.
His co-driver throughout his career was Robert Reid.

Late on Friday, November 25, 2005, four years after winning the World Rally Championship, Burns died in Westminster, London, at the age of 34, after falling into a coma for several days due to a brain tumor.
The Richard Burns Foundation was founded in 2006, with a mission to help people with brain injuries and diseases in collaboration with Peter Hamlyn & BSF who was Richard’s doctor.
