In their first participation in the “World” Acropolis Rally, Vassilis and Giannis Velanis with the Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo in their hands, moved at their own pace and were happy with their performance on Friday. The end of the day finds them in seventh place in the WRC3 category and third in the informal Greek ranking!
«We have in mind to move carefully, in order to travel all the kilometers of the race and to live this unique experience of participating in the Acropolis Rally “, said Vassilis Velanis and continued: «Friday’s special stages were not in the best possible condition, however toughness is the trademark of our national race. With the valuable guidance of my co-driver, we avoided mischief and drove smart to get out unscathed. We were worried on the last stage of the leg, Elatia, as we had a contact with a stone, but fortunately no damage was caused to Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo!»
The crew of the VE2 Rally Team participates in the WRC3 category and after the first leg is in seventh place: «Although we try to be focused on our target, without looking at the times after each stage, we are happy to be in seventh place in WRC3, but also third place among the Greek crews. We will try to maintain our positions on Saturday, although as we have said we eagerly want to finish at the Acropolis Rally », said Vassilis Velanis.
On Saturday, the crews are called to face six special stages in the area of Fthiotida, with a total length of 133 racing kilometers.
